This is known as the "Sport of Sheikhs"

It was a thrill driving alongside the track as these beautiful animals raced

The guy in the car under the camel's belly was not happy that we were driving alongside the track as they were training

All these Toyota SUV cars are for the future winners, owners of the camels.

The museum is dedicated to reflecting the full vitality, complexity and diversity of the arts of the Islamic world. The museum contains masterpieces spanning three continents from the 7th to the 19th century.

Falcons for sale

Falcon for sale

Bargaining for a Falcon. This is a sport of the wealthy in Oatar

The sport of Falconry began over 5,000 years ago in Iran. The sport was introduced to Qatar through Bedouin tribes who used the birds as a tool for hunting.

It was easier to let the Falcons take down birds migrating than to shoot them.

The best Falcons cost thousands of dollars. They can even be issued their own passports to ensure they are not stolen or taken out of the country without the owners permission.

It is not unusual to find a Falcon aboard an airliner traveling with their owner in the Middle East.
