This is called the Qibla - points to the direction of Mecca. This was on the night stand corner in the hotel room. Every hotel room will have this on the ceiling or a conspicuous location to tell which direction to pray to Mecca

A Qibla Compass or Qiblah Compass points to Mecca. It is a modified compass used by Muslims to indicate the direction to face to perform ritual prayers 5 times a day
