It does not look like a large area falling but it is massive. It can cause large waves and you do not want to be on the water in a zodiac when it comes at you.
Calving, is the breaking of ice chunks from the edge of a glacier. It is a form of ice ablation or ice disruption and is normally caused by the glacier expanding.

Talk about narrow house on a steep hill.
Now you can see the size of the calving in the distance with the small zodiacs in the foreground going back to the ship.
A large piece has just slipped out of the ice shelf.

The  reflection in the still water was incredible.
