Paro airport has been described as "the most difficult airport in the world". The airport has only one runway, airplanes approach pass by 16,500 foot Himalayan Mountain peaks, and the 5,940 foot runway length presents a double challenge, due to low density altitude at the site. As a result, only a handful of airline pilots, 8 as of December 2014, are certified to operate commercial planes there.
Ringpung Dzong - Bhuddhist Monastery and fortress, established in the 15th Century. The building houses the district Monastic Body and Government administrative office of Paro.
